Winter conditions in swedish Sápmi have caused great difficulties. Temperature fluctuations have made the grazing areas covered by a layer of ice, on top of that a lot of snow. The ice layer makes it very difficult for reindeer to reach the lichens they eat. Many reindeer risk starving. The Swedish government has given financial help, but still the situation is catastrophic.
I would urge you to pray for the reindeer herders and their situation, and for favourable weather conditions during the rest of the winter.
